Luke Preston is a Partner within Carter Newell’s Construction & Engineering team.
Luke has more than 19 years experience in commercial litigation, construction law and insolvency. He specialises in claims for damages for defective and incomplete building works, in recovery proceedings pursuant to contract and in quantum meruit claims.
Luke's experience has also involved representing and advising variously principals, contractors and subcontractors to building contractual disputes and claims, both commercial and domestic.
Luke has also developed a particular expertise in Body Corporate and Community Management law, where he has represented large Bodies Corporate in the negotiation and documentation of commercial building contracts, disputes with Lot Owners, Committee and Body Corporate obligations and duties, and BCCM Adjudication and Commercial and Consumer Tribunal proceedings.
Luke is a qualified adjudicator accredited with the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators, has extensive experience in contract and property litigation in the Queensland Civil Courts, and is a past member of the Queensland Law Society's Practice and Procedure Committee.
