Mitchell W. Berger received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Lafayette College in 1977, and his law degree from Temple University in 1980. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals (6th and 11th Circuits), the United States District Court (Southern District of Florida, Northern District of Florida, Eastern District of Tennessee, and District of New Jersey), the United States Court of Federal Claims, and all state courts in Florida, New Jersey, and Tennessee. He was a student member on the Board of Trustees at Lafayette College during 1976 and 1977, and was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, Tau Epsilon Rho, the Temple Law Quarterly, and "The Jurist." In 1980, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alan C. Sundberg, then-Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Mr. Berger has served as a director of the Student Loan Marketing Association since 1994, and is currently Chairman of the Board, having been appointed to the Chairmanship by President Clinton. He has also served as a Commissioner on the Florida Environmental Regulation Commission, having been appointed to this post by Governor Lawton Chiles and confirmed by the Florida State Senate. Mr. Berger is currently serving on the Board of the South Florida Water Management District, having been appointed to this post by Governor Lawton Chiles and confirmed by the Florida State Senate. Mr. Berger co-chaired the Community Relations Committee for the Summit of the Americas which occurred in Miami, Florida in December of 1994. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Nova Southeastern University School of Business. In December of 1992, Mr. Berger was appointed by then President-Elect Clinton to serve as a member of the Presidential Transition Team for the Department of the Interior and the Environmental Protection Agency.
