Shane Stewart, CPA, has 12 years of experience in state and local tax matters, including former Big Four experience. His focus includes sales/use taxes, gross receipts taxes, fuels/excise taxes, business/occupations taxes, statutory credits and negotiated incentives in all states. Shane is responsible for directing all indirect tax services for Weaver’s state and local tax practice, which includes developing strategic growth plans and overseeing service line quality assurance measures.
Shane has strong experience in evaluating sales and transaction tax compliance functions for clients operating in Texas as well as in multiple jurisdictions. He provides a comprehensive range of services related to multi-jurisdictional transaction and indirect taxes. His state and local indirect tax experience includes audit defense, tax recovery, credits and incentives, tax process improvements and automation, tax appeals, tax compliance, and strategic planning. Shane has provided advisory work for a variety of clients in the telecommunications, manufacturing, oil and gas, government contractor, construction, retail and financial services industries.
Shane is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in both Texas and Virginia. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University.
