Extension of Exceptional Family Support in the Context of the Suspension of School and Non-School Face-to-face Activities

Decree-Law 14-B/2021 of 22 February was published, extending exceptional support to the family in the context of the suspension of school and non-school face-to-face activities.

The new diploma allows teleworking workers to benefit from the exceptional family support when they choose to interrupt their activity to provide assistance to their family, when:

  • His/her household is a single parent with a dependent child/other dependent;
  • His/her household includes at least one dependent child/other dependent, who attends social equipment for early childhood support, pre-school or primary school;
  • His/her household includes at least one disabled dependent with a proven disability of 60% or more, regardless of age.

The value of family support was also increased, concerning the amount paid by Social Security, in order to ensure 100% of the value of the base remuneration, of the registered remuneration or of the measured contribution base, up to the maximum limits of support, already defined, when:

  • His/her household is a single-parent household and your dependent child/other dependent is entitled to an increase in the allowance for a single-parent family;
  • Both parents benefit from the support, alternating on a weekly basis.

The decree came into force on 23 February 2021.
