More and more companies are also targeting foreign employees in their search for good personnel. When is it allowed to employ a foreign employee and how do you proceed in practical terms?
Staff wanted ...
Foreign workerYour company is growing and orders are pouring in. Unfortunately, you are unable to fill the vacancies with the right people. A foreign employee can then be the perfect solution.
And found
You decide to work on it, and you manage to find three new employees.
- A Swiss goes to work as a welder.
- An Egyptian comes to work for two months as a warehouse worker.
- A technical engineer is from Hong Kong.
From where?
Switzerland
First check whether your employee comes from the so-called European Economic Area. These are all EU countries, plus Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland. If your employee is from one of these countries or from Switzerland, you can hire him with confidence. The free movement of persons applies within this area. No problem for your welder!
Tip!
Check the proof of identity to determine the nationality.
Pay attention!
As an employer, you are obliged to first recruit within the EEA and Switzerland. Only if you can demonstrate that you cannot find a suitable employee there, you may also recruit in other countries.
Egypt
If an employee comes from a country outside the EEA or Switzerland, you generally need a work permit. In addition, a residence permit may also be required.
