TAGLaw® and TIAG®, two worldwide alliances of independent law and accounting firms, announced they were contributing over $30,000USD to the victims and to relief efforts of Hurricane Sandy, which devastated the New York and New Jersey coasts in late October. The organizations are doing so through their charitable organization, TAG Foundation.
TAG Foundation Trustees and Advisors recently met and approved the distribution for the benefit of those who suffered substantial personal loss from the storm. Contributions came from TAGLaw and TIAG members in Europe, North America and Asia, as well as from The Appleton Group (parent company of TAGLaw and TIAG) itself.
In calls to TAGLaw and TIAG members in New York and New Jersey, TAG Foundation Advisors and Trustees learned of the devastating losses suffered by staff personnel of member firms. The Advisors and Trustees were moved by these stories and have allocated more than $25,000 to helping such individuals as their needs, supported by written requests, justify. Additional allocations are being given to the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.
Additionally, all Canadian TAGLaw members, with leadership from TAG Foundation Advisor Michael Penman, made contributions in the name of TAG Foundation to the Canadian Red Cross with Hurricane Sandy relief as the designated use for the funds.
“Whether it is the catastrophic tsunami in Japan, devastating floods in Pakistan or an unprecedented hurricane in the northeastern United States, TAGLaw and TIAG members continue to show their generosity and compassion for their fellow human beings,” said Bob Sattin, TAGLaw and TIAG President and TAG Foundation Trustee. “We are more than colleagues. We are a global family.”
About TAG Foundation:
TAG Foundation is the charitable foundation for TAGLaw and The International Accounting Group (TIAG). TAG Foundation was started formally in 2010 with a mission to help victims around the world who have been affected by a major disaster. TAGLaw’s and TIAG’s charitable tradition began in 2001, when members banded together to assist the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Since that time, major donations were given to the victims of the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia and, since the start of TAG Foundation, the 2010 flood victims in Pakistan and the 2011 victims of the tsunami in Fukushima, Japan.
