National accounting firm Weaver, one of the 40 largest Certified Public Accounting firms in the United States, announced today that Jacqueline Peterson, J.D., has joined the firm as a director in its forensics and litigation services practice. Peterson will focus on expanding the reach and scope of Weaver’s anticorruption, ethics and compliance services for clients nationwide.

“Weaver has long offered fraud prevention, forensic accounting and litigation support services,” said CEO and Managing Partner John Mackel, CPA. “Jacqueline’s knowledge and leadership in the anti-corruption and compliance arena will enable us to expand our services and help more clients develop strategic, well-planned global compliance and ethics programs.”

Peterson was most recently the director of global compliance for DXC Technology, an offshoot of Hewlett Packard Enterprise; she also directed the global anti-corruption office for Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the ethics and anti-corruption office for Hewlett Packard Company (HP Co.). In all three roles, she developed and managed global anti-corruption, ethics and compliance efforts, from strategy and policy development to employee training and legal defense.

At HP Co., Peterson helped the company resolve investigations relating to alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. In announcing the resolution of the matter, the Department of Justice stated, “Court filings also acknowledge the extensive anti-corruption remedial efforts undertaken by HP Co., including taking appropriate disciplinary action against culpable employees, and enhancing HP Co.’s internal accounting, reporting, and compliance functions.”

Peterson began her career as a domestic violence prosecutor in South Florida and served as a partner in the white-collar crime section of K&L Gates, where she routinely counseled clients on Civil False Claims Act cases and risks associated with mergers and acquisitions. She also responded to grand jury subpoenas and investigations by regulators. Peterson received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and her J.D. from the University of Nebraska, where she was named the Outstanding Female Law Graduate.
