New Uptown location places Weaver in the heart of the business district.
In October, national accounting firm Weaver, one of the 40 largest CPA firms in the United States, relocated its Dallas office to a new multi-use tower in Uptown, an exciting, fast-growing area of Dallas. The Union is a 22-story office tower with restaurants, retail — including a grocery store — and a 23-story apartment tower. It is also pre-certified as a LEED Gold Tower, a mark of the energy efficiency and sustainability features incorporated into the building. Weaver is one of the first office tenants to occupy the space.
Weaver selected Uptown and The Union to be closer to clients, particularly the many hedge and private equity funds that are located nearby and served by the firm’s national alternative investment fund practice and commercial services practice. In addition, Weaver sought to increase its visibility, create a more vibrant and flexible workspace, and attract talented professionals who want to work in Uptown. The Union is close to Victory Park, the Katy Trail, the Dallas Arts District and Klyde Warren Park. Many restaurants are nearby, as are opportunities for fitness and outdoor activities, sports, cultural destinations, live music and nightlife.
The open office design offers variety and visibility for employees, increasing opportunities for Weaver professionals to collaborate, leverage technology and take advantage of purpose-driven spaces. Corgan designed the office in close collaboration with Weaver leaders and employees. The accounting firm’s goal was to create a space with impact — one that would fuel Weaver’s people and culture, integrate practice groups and foster collaboration. With expansive views over downtown and The Union’s 8th-floor amenity deck and green space, it offers an attractive visual space and access to natural light. An open central stairwell connects Weaver’s two floors, increasing the feeling of connection and further promoting employee wellness.
“Nationwide, Weaver is placing our offices in central locations where we can be close to the action and where our employees want to live: Midtown Manhattan, the Cultural District on West Seventh in Fort Worth, and now The Union in Dallas,” said Managing Partner and CEO John Mackel. “We’re excited about the new location and the new space, which is designed to be a comfortable, flexible and productive environment for our employees.”
Weaver partnered with Corgan to design the office interior because Corgan’s human-centered approach closely aligns with Weaver’s company values. Corgan, consistently ranked among the top five architecture firms in the U.S., also provided deep technical experience and a reputation for excellent service. The two firms have worked together for the last three years, surveying Weaver staff and discussing needs and goals with Weaver’s leaders in order to create an office that provides variety, visibility, impact and unity.
Weaver’s commercial real estate agency was Citadel Partners. The Union is being developed by RED Development, LLC, from Phoenix, Ariz. HKS, Inc., is the architect of record; the landscape architect is the Office of James Burnett (OJB) in Houston; and office leasing is managed by Peloton Commercial Real Estate. Streetlights Residential, LLC, from Dallas is the residential developer, and CBRE|UCR in Dallas handles retail leasing.
