Browne Craine & Co (“Browne Craine”) director Craig Mitchell is set to trek the Great Wall of China at the end of May in aid of local charity, Rebecca House Children’s Hospice (“Rebecca House”). Craig and his friend Tony Dowling, will be flying to Beijing to take part in the six-day challenge along parts of the Great Wall. The trek will start in Huangyaguan and will finish at Mutianyu.
In November last year Craig hosted a table at the Rebecca House Rainbow Ball to celebrate the charity’s 10-year anniversary, during which the organisers played a video about a little girl whose younger brother had recently lost his battle with illness whilst being treated at Rebecca House.
“Watching the video about a child living through a truly traumatic experience really does help you put things into perspective and it makes you realise just how fortunate most of us really are,” said Craig. “Tony couldn’t attend the Rainbow Ball so when I next met up with him, I mentioned the video and without a moment’s hesitation Tony said, “Why don’t we do our Great Wall of China trek in aid of Rebecca House?”, and so here we are.”
The Great Wall of China trek isn’t Craig’s first adventure. In 2016, Craig successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, with its summit being 5,895 metres above sea level. While in 2017, Craig and his partner, Kate, completed the New York Marathon.
