Cohen & Company is pleased to announce the opening of its office in downtown Detroit. The nearly 5,500 square foot space at the Chrysler House on 719 Griswold Street became the firm’s eighth office location.
Cohen & Company offers a full range of accounting, tax and consulting services to private companies and the investment industry throughout the U.S. The new Detroit office is part of the bigger picture for the firm’s growth, including recently adding locations in Pittsburgh and New York, and acquiring GHD CPAs in St. Clair Shores, MI, last year.
“Establishing our firm in the St. Clair Shores office has allowed us to expand our presence in the Metro Detroit area” says Rob MacKinlay, president of the firm’s Private Company Services Division. “We continue to invest in dynamic, energetic cities throughout the Midwest that embrace our core beliefs. This location also will allow us to contribute to and get more involved with the Detroit community in an even more meaningful way.”
“Cohen & Company opening up a new office at the Chrysler House is further proof that national firms are recognizing the momentum happening in downtown Detroit,” said Dan Leppink, Senior Leasing Associate, Bedrock. “We are thrilled to welcome Cohen & Company to their new home and are excited for them to be part of the action happening in the Central Business District.”
With more than 425 employees across all offices, the firm’s work with its existing client base in the Detroit area, and the more than 60 accountants and advisors, and growing, located in the St. Clair Shores office create a unique understanding of the issues growing private companies face in this market. The new downtown location opened with two partners, 10 staff and is anticipating significant growth over the next several years.
“Our transition with the GHD office has been very successful, in terms of merging cultures, clients, employees and growth strategies,” says Cohen & Company CEO Randy Myeroff. “We feel we are in a great position to commit ourselves to this region even more deeply.”
Cohen & Company plans to hire both staff and experienced hires immediately in the downtown Detroit office, cultivating relationships and working with local universities to find the right fit for the firm’s culture and its clients.
