Voting has taken place in all four offices of Mercer & Hole, and we have chosen our new charities for 2024 for each office.
The team of the Milton Keynes office have chosen Young Carers Milton Keynes, a local charity providing much-needed support to young carers between the ages of 8-19 who care for a parent or family member. The support is tailored for each child depending on their needs and the charity also runs a youth club to give young carers time off to be children again.
In our London office, the team chose Bliss as a charity to work with over the next year. Bliss is a charity very close to many peoples’ hearts as it works with parents of sick and premature babies to provide support through what can be an extremely challenging time emotionally. Bliss work with over 90% of neonatal units across the UK and as well as providing emotional and advocacy support to parents.
In St Albans, team members chose to support the Herts Young Homeless charity as this is a rising concern across the region. Herts Young Homeless work with 16–24-year-olds who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness and those aged 10-15 whose families are at risk of relationship breakdown.
The Rickmansworth team chose to support, Mission EmployAble which is a local social enterprise charity dedicated to helping people with learning disabilities to reach their full potential. Based just down the road at Chorleywood Common, they provide opportunities for them to train and to be employed and valued so that they can play an active role in the local community.
