Emilda Santiesteban Joins Weaver as Director in State and Local Tax Services

Weaver, the 35th largest public accounting and advisory firm in the United States, has added Emilda Santiesteban as a director in its expanding national state and local tax services practice. Based in the firm’s Dallas office, Santiesteban will work directly with energy clients throughout the country on complex matters related to fuels and excise taxes. Her focus is on outsourced tax return compliance, audit defense and consulting, tax due diligence, refund identification and recovery, compliance evaluations and planning, and assistance with new or existing in-house tax technology solutions.

“Weaver is known for helping companies manage their evolving state and local tax compliance requirements,” said Shane Stewart, Partner-in-Charge of State and Local Tax Services. “Emilda’s strong technical skills and experience are a great fit as Weaver continues to grow.”

Having recently served as tax manager for a Fortune 500 petroleum refinery company, Santiesteban brings more than 21 years of experience in managing tax matters and returns related to refineries, fuel terminals and pipelines, as well as fuel marketing operators. She is highly skilled in identifying planning opportunities to help minimize fuels and excise tax liabilities.

“We are excited to have Emilda join the firm as we continue expanding Weaver’s breadth of energy compliance capabilities for our clients,” said Wade Watson, Partner-in-Charge of Energy Compliance Services. “Emilda’s knowledge and deep understanding of the downstream market is a great addition to the team and further builds on our knowledge and experience.”

Santiesteban is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, the Federation of Tax Administrators and the American Petroleum Institute. She earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Keller University and is currently attending Lamar University for a Master of Business Administration. Santiesteban gives her time to the Dallas Life Foundation, a not-for-profit focused on helping homeless families throughout the Motorplex community.
