Employees at Weaver, a national certified public accounting (CPA) and advisory firm and the 35th largest public accounting firm in the United States, raised more than $60,000 for charity by walking more than 28,000 miles during the firm’s recent Get Moving for Charity Challenge. The following five charities received charitable contributions from Weaver:
- Alzheimer’s Association
- American Cancer Society
- American Heart Association
- Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
- Feed the Children
Weaver’s Get Moving for Charity Challenge was part fundraising effort, part walking challenge, and encouraged employees to support their favorite cause by raising money and tracking their steps through a wellness app. In addition to taking steps toward a more active lifestyle at the end of a difficult pandemic year, participants earned matching funds for their select charity as well as internal rewards for meeting fundraising and step milestones, which included top daily average steps and longest distance stepped.
“Our employees had a great time participating in this friendly competition by stepping up their physical activity while raising money for their charity team,” said said John Mackel, CEO of Weaver. “I am proud of the way the Weaver team rallied behind this challenge and took the opportunity to give back to our communities that have been impacted by the challenges of 2020. Our collective efforts were exceptional and something to be proud of. What a great way to close out the year!”
Through charitable campaigns like this one as well as volunteer events and other efforts, Weaver and its employees demonstrate their commitment to the health and wellbeing of the communities in which Weaver has a presence.
