San Francisco-based law firm Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP welcomes Troy A. Valdez to the partnership.
Troy is a trial attorney with more than 20 years of experience practicing labor and employment law. He has represented clients in a range of employment matters, from wage and hour class actions, founder and executive disputes, breach of contract actions, whistleblower and other retaliation claims, discrimination and harassment matters, to traditional labor arbitrations. He has also prosecuted and defended trade secret misappropriation and corporate raiding suits.
In addition to his litigation experience, Troy counsels clients on all aspects of the employer/employee relationship, including the implementation of wage and hour compliance programs, the creation and implementation of employee and workplace policies, the negotiation of executive recruitment and terminations, the implementation of legally compliant reductions in force and other cost-saving measures, and the navigation of the law with respect to employee compensation, leaves, discipline, and terminations. He also advises clients on the employment issues that can arise in merger and acquisition transactions.
"We are delighted to welcome Troy to the Firm," said Clifford E. Yin, partner and co-chair of the litigation practice at Coblentz. "He is a wonderful addition to our litigation and employment practices, and we're proud to have him as our partner."
“Troy has emerged as a top talent in the Bay Area employment law bar,” said Fred Alvarez, employment partner at Coblentz. “I have worked closely with him over the years and have seen how effective he can be with large matters for notable brand name companies and with mission critical matters for growing companies, particularly in the tech sector. I couldn't be more pleased to reunite with him as Coblentz continues to build out its employment law practice."
Prior to joining Coblentz, Troy was a partner at Thoits Law. Prior to that, he was a partner and co-founder of Valdez Law Group, an employment law boutique that specialized in litigation and pre-litigation counseling services. Troy earned his J.D. from the University of California at Davis School of Law and earned his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only, peer-selected, and diverse honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers.
"I am thrilled to be joining Coblentz. I have admired the firm and its attorneys for a long time and I am so fortunate to be able to continue my practice with such a respected group of lawyers, staff and other professionals," said Troy Valdez.
