Piper Alderman is delighted to announce 27 new promotions across the firm, including four new partners, with effect from 1 July 2019.
Our four newly appointed partners located in our Sydney office include two female partners and increase the firm’s national partner numbers to 75 and female partnership to 25%.
Our New Partners
Daniel Fitzpatrick, Infrastructure & Projects – Sydney
Daniel joined Piper Alderman with Robert Riddell in 2017 as Special Counsel. Daniel has over 15 years’ experience providing legal services for developers, builders, trade contractors and owners of retail shopping centres, aged care, industrial and residential developments in relation to construction disputes across litigation, arbitration, security of payment legislation, expert determination and mediation processes. Daniel is an active member of the Resolution Institute and Society of Construction Law Australia.
Angelina Kozary, Insolvency - Sydney
Angelina joined Piper Alderman in 2016 as a Senior Associate, working with insolvency partner, Thomas Russell. Angelina’s expertise is in formal insolvency appointments, corporate restructurings, complex commercial litigation and insolvency risk advice. A focus of Angelina’s practice is working for liquidators, voluntary administrators, receivers, bankruptcy trustees and secured creditors as well as corporate clients in both contentious and non-contentious matters. Angelina is a professional member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association and is currently participating in the NSW Law Society Young Lawyers mentoring program as a mentor. In 2018, Angelina was recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a ‘Rising Star’ for Litigation, Dispute Resolution and Insolvency in Australia.
Chris Lyons, Corporate – Sydney
Chris joined Piper Alderman in 2012. Chris provides legal advice across a broad range of areas including mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, shareholder arrangements, commercial and regulatory matters with a specialisation in casino regulation and gaming law. Chris has worked on a number of landmark deals for the firm including: advising the New South Wales Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority on the licensing arrangements for the Barangaroo casino; advising the security trustee in the Boart Longyear debtor’s scheme of arrangement, and advising Cobalt 27 Capital Corp. regarding its recent $115m takeover of ASX listed Highlands Pacific Limited by scheme of arrangement.
McKenzie Moore, Dispute Resolution and Litigation - Sydney
McKenzie joined Piper Alderman in 2012 as an associate and moved to a Special Counsel role in 2018. McKenzie has expertise in complex commercial litigation and has acted in numerous multi-million dollar disputes including funded actions under Australian Corporations and Securities legislation. McKenzie also works in the Energy and Resource area and has gained specialist expertise from her involvement in disputes concerning transactions in the mining, petroleum and energy sector. Having previously worked in China and South East Asia, McKenzie draws upon her international commercial experience to assist in the provision of commercial and corporate advice to both the firm’s national and international clients.
