Kathryn Walker joins Piper Alderman as an environment, energy and infrastructure partner in Adelaide from Wednesday, 12 December 2018.
Kathryn has over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of energy, environment and planning, including renewable energy projects, infrastructure and urban renewal, Environment Protection Act compliance, development approvals, land and groundwater contamination, waste derived fill, native title, water licences, biodiversity conservation and related disputes.
In addition to her energy, environment and planning expertise, Kathryn provides advice on tender and construction documents, procurement and project delivery advice and construction disputes.
Kathryn’s recent significant experience includes representing stakeholders in South Australia’s first electricity buying group, advising on South Australia’s Big Battery Project, providing advice on the National Electricity Market compliance and advising on renewable energy projects.
Kathryn’s experience will complement the current Adelaide-based team with Ashley Watson in environment and planning and Martin Lovell’s energy infrastructure practice.

Kathryn is a member of numerous industry associations, and is presently Secretary of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (SA) (UDIA) Executive Council, Member of the UDIA Planning Committee and Executive Management Committee; and Chair of the Environment and Remediation Committee.
Kathryn is the fourth female partner to join Piper Alderman this year. Last month Piper Alderman welcomed Andrea Beatty in Sydney to the financial services team and earlier in the year Joanne Hardwick in Melbourne and Sarah Johnson in Sydney joined the firm.
