On November 29, 2018, in Brussels, Cain Lamarre LLP was invited by the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with Canada to share the success of Canada's immigration programs.
Invited by Delegation Chairman Mr. Bernd Kolmel (European Conservatives and Reformists Group) and Parliamentarians from across Europe, Me David Nachfolger (Immigration Practice Group Leader at Cain Lamarre) spoke in detail about the ways in which Canada's federal and provincial immigration programs support the country's continued private sector growth.
In light of current migration challenges facing European Union member states, Me Nachfolger assessed elements of the Canadian and Quebec model for use in other jurisdictions. Me Nachfolger was joined by Me Robert-André Adam, a Partner at Cain Lamarre's office in Val d'Or, Quebec and a leader on provincial nature resource development projects. Representatives from the Quebec General Delegation in Brussels and the Mission of Canada to the European Union also joined the session.
In parallel to efforts undertaken by the governments of Canada and Quebec, Cain Lamarre spoke in detail with European Parliamentarians seeking to learn more about the Canadian framework in societies that are multi-ethnic, multilingual, and politically fragmented. Me Nachfolger and Me Adam emphasized the role that both the public and private sectors can play in the recruitment and integration of foreign nationals. The meeting culminated with an invitation by Cain Lamarre to accompany a delegation of Parliamentarians to Quebec to meet with government and business leadership who have benefitted from its immigration policies. Me Nachfolger and Me Adam were later welcomed at the Quebec General Delegation in Brussels.
