Kuits advises shareholders of Laser Quantum on sale to Novanta Technologies
Commercial law firm Kuits has advised the shareholders of Laser Quantum Limited on a sale of part of their shares to its main existing shareholder, Novanta Technologies UK Limited.
Based in Stockport, Laser Quantum is a leader in the photonics market, producing continuous wave and femtosecond laser products. The company was formed in the 1990s by three PhD physicists from the University of Manchester and has since grown rapidly into a globally recognised company with offices in the US and Germany, attracting a Queens Award for Enterprise and a place on The Sunday Times’ SME Export Track 100.
With offices across the US, Europe and Asia, Nasdaq listed Novanta operates a number of companies within the photonics market, producing engineered photonics, vision and precision motion solutions for the medical and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Kuits provided comprehensive legal and commercial advice to co-founders Lawrie Gloster, Steve Lane and Alan Cox, and Albrecht Bartels, who founded the German arm of the business. The transaction was led by corporate partner Kirsti Pinnell, who was supported by partner Peter Allen and solicitor Anne-Marie Coles.
Kirsti Pinnell said: “Manchester continues to attract the world’s attention for its technological innovation. Laser Quantum is no exception to this rule, having followed a phenomenal growth track.”
