Randall D. Crocker, President and CEO of von Briesen & Roper, s.c. (Wisconsin, USA), announced that on March 1, 2016, the firm opened a new office in Oshkosh and welcomed six lawyers to that office. The new lawyers who joined the firm’s Oshkosh office are Shareholders James R. Macy, Robert A. Mathers, Steven R. Sorenson and William E. Fischer, Associates Courtney A. Hollander and Thomas W. James R. Macy focuses his practice on representing employers in labor and employment issues and school law in labor negotiations, discrimination defense, disability and ADA issues, wrongful discharge, non- competition and employment agreements and severances. Macy serves as Director on several Boards: Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce, Grand Opera House, and Unified Catholic Schools Foundation. He serves as the Chair of the Oshkosh Leadership Steering Committee and the Town Board of Zoning Appeals. He is also a member of the National School Attorneys Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the American Bar Association. He received a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin and a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Robert A. Mathers provides legal and business advisory services to businesses and their owners, focusing on closely-held businesses as well as estate planning. Mathers was the former National Tax Director of one of the largest CPA firms in the country and leverages that experience for clients. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is AICPA Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and is an AICPA Personal Financial Specialist (PFS). Mathers serves on the Board of Trustees for Mercy Medical Foundation, Inc. and is a member of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation Investment Board. He is a member of FaB Wisconsin, Fox Valley Estate Planning Council, Winnebagoland Estate Planning Council, Winnebago County Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the American Bar Association (Tax Section). He received a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Steven R. Sorenson provides counsel on corporate law, business succession planning, estate planning, real estate, land use, zoning and smart growth. Sorenson previously served as President (1997-1998) and Secretary (1994-1996) of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He was also President of the National Conference of Bar Presidents (2007 -2008) and a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates. He is a member of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation Board and the Green Lake County/Ripon Area Foundation Board. He is the President of the Ripon Main Street Development Board of Directors and an Adjunct Professor of Business and Politics and Government at Ripon College. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Badger Boys State. Steve is a frequent lecturer on Legal Ethics, Real Estate law and Waterfront rights. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Community Health Network (CHN) and remains active in health care organizations. He received a J.D. from Marquette University and an undergraduate degree from Luther College.
William E. Fischer is a trial and appellate attorney who works closely with business owners and executives in areas including antitrust, contracts, creditor debtor issues, restrictive covenants, employment separation, insurance coverage, regulatory compliance, unfair competition, product liability and professional liability. Fischer received a J.D., cum laude, from Marquette University and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
Courtney A. Hollander focuses her practice on business law, transactional matters, tax-related issues and estate planning. She is a member of the University of Wisconsin Law School Pro Bono Society and while in law school worked for the Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic providing business planning and tax compliance advice. Hollander received a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin and an A.B. in Communication and Business Management from Ripon College.
Thomas W. Moniz assists clients with limited liability entity formation, trust and estate planning and administration, and business succession planning. He also works with non-profit entities and has helped organizations obtain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. He serves on the Recruitment and Retention Committee for the Wisconsin Family Business Forum and as a Director for Ripon Main Street, Inc. He is a member of FaB Wisconsin, Ripon/Green Lake Area Bar Association, Winnebago County Bar Association and Winnebagoland Estate Planning Council. Moniz received a J.D., cum laude, from Marquette University and a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
William G. Bracken serves as a Research Coordinator assisting public employers in complex and sensitive collective bargaining negotiations, interest arbitration and grievance arbitrations. Bracken works with cities, school districts, towns, villages and counties. Bracken is a member of the Wisconsin (WPELRA) and National (NPELRA) Public Employers Labor Relations Associations, Fox Valley School Negotiators, Winnebago Area County/City Personnel Administrators, and the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce. He earned an M.S. in Industrial Relations and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
Lynn S. Lemiesz is a Paralegal with over 20 years of experience. She provides assistance with real estate transactions including drafting of offers, review of title work, surveys, review and drafting of transfer documents, drafting of condominium declarations and bylaws. Lemiesz also handles the preparation of documentation and administration of probate files, estate planning files, and corporate planning files. She earned a B.A. from the University of Phoenix.
