Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is marking its 30th anniversary by giving back and contributing to 30 local charities that make a positive impact in the Boca, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Tallahassee communities where the firm has offices. The firm donated $300,000 to 30 charities in Florida, including one organization chosen by the team members in each of its four offices: Tri-County Animal Rescue, ARC Broward, Children’s Cancer Caring Center andChildren’s Home Society. The total amount contributed includes donations from a month-long anniversary fundraising initiative which raised $50K from 100% firm team member participation.
“Celebrating our firm’s 30th anniversary is a tremendous milestone,” said James L. Berger, managing partner of Berger Singerman. “The growth and success our firm has enjoyed would not be possible without the unwavering dedication of our team members and their families. We are proud of everything the firm has accomplished, both professionally and in our communities, and we are inspired to do even better in the next 30 years.”
The 30 charities receiving contributions from the firm were recognized at Berger Singerman’s 2015 BusinessTalk event on October 21st at the Gallery of Amazing Things in Dania Beach. An annual event hosted for clients, referral sources and trading partners, the theme of this year’s BusinessTalk was “The Power of Gratitude: Enhancing Your Professional and Personal Life.” Keynote speaker Robert A. Emmons, Ph.D., a professor of psychology at the University of California, Davis, and the world’s leading scientific expert on gratitude, spoke to the crowd of over 300 business leaders from throughout the state.
“We are grateful to the organizations that work every day to better the lives of our neighbors in need, and we felt our firm’s 30th anniversary was the perfect opportunity to share this spirit of gratitude with our clients, trading partners and team members,” said Paul Steven Singerman, co-chair of Berger Singerman. “We encouraged all of our team members to participate in a month-long 30th anniversary fundraising initiative, and we could not be more pleased to announce that we had 100% participation. Every one of our 170 team members contributed to our charitable giving initiative.”
Berger Singerman’s 30th anniversary donation adds to the firm’s tradition of philanthropy and charitable giving. Over the past ten years, Berger Singerman has donated more than $1.5 million to organizations across Florida; for its 25th anniversary the firm donated $250,000 to local nonprofits and for its 20th anniversary the firm donated $200,000.
“We saw this milestone anniversary as an opportunity to not only celebrate our achievement, but to recommit to community service,” said Mitchell W. Berger, founder and co-chair of Berger Singerman. “We will continue to set high standards for ourselves and all of the firm’s team members to act as stewards of our community, and encourage everyone to show gratitude to the organizations that make the communities we call home a better place to work and live.”
