APPOINTED GENERAL COUNSEL of PhRMA

Kirton & McConkie, Attorneys at Law, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, is pleased to announce that Conan P. Grames has accepted an offer to become Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufactures of America (PhRMA) in Washington, D.C.
PhRMA represents the leading pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies in the United States. Those companies are devoted to inventing, developing, and offering medicines which allow patients to live longer, healthier, and more productive lives.
The Mission of PhRMA is to conduct effective advocacy in support of public policies, which encourage discovery of important new medicines for patients by pharmaceutical and biotechnology research companies.
Conan Grames has been Head of the Health Sciences Group and Chair of the International Section at Kirton & McConkie. Both Groups will continue with their strong professional staffs. New leadership of each group will be announced shortly.

Mr. Grames is a graduate of the University of Utah and Harvard Law School. He practiced in Japan as a Partner of Baker & McKenzie; he joined the Legal Division of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in 1982. He was made Vice President and Senior Counsel of the International Division with 30 lawyers around the world reporting to him, supporting the integrated businesses in 100 countries with sales of over US$7 billion. He took early retirement from Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1999, returned to Japan for church service, and joined Kirton & McConkie in 2003.
Mr. Grames is originally from Salt Lake City and has resided in Japan for a total of 15 years. He is fluent in Japanese.
Mr. Grames will relocate from Salt Lake City to Washington, D.C.
