This annual award is presented by the Dalhousie Law Alumni Association in support of the Schulich School of Law. The award recognizes alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the community and the legal profession.Over his 30 year legal career John has been a committed volunteer for a number of community and professional organizations. John serves as the Chair of the Board of Governors for Saint Mary’s University and is the recipient of the Canadian Bar Association Community Service Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. As Chair of the firm’s Creditor Practice Team, John has been regularly included in Best Lawyers in Canada.
John received his Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University in 1981, and his LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1984. John was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1985 and appointed to Queen’s Counsel in 2008.
