Guerrero Olivos (Chile) has hired Jaime Barahona, who is currently the Deputy National Economic Prosecutor. Jaime will join the firm in August, to be part of the antitrust practice area.
Jaime holds a law degree from Universidad Diego Portales, and has undertaken post-graduate studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad de Los Andes.
Previously, he held the position of Secretary of the Antitrust Court, since its inception in 2004. Between 1999 and 2004 he was the Secretary of the Antitrust - Commission (a predecessor of the Court) and Head of the Commission's Support Department at the National Economic Prosecutor Office.
Jaime has represented Chile in various international fora on competition and antitrust, including the OECD, the International Competition Network (ICN) and UNCTAD. He also participated in the negotiation of the competition policy chapters of the Chile-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, ALCA (FTAA) and currently the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
He has been professor of Competition Law for the School of Law of Universidad Diego Portales, has taught in Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile's Diploma in Antitrust and in the "Summer Law Program in Chile", conducted jointly by the School of Law of Universidad Diego Portales and American University – Washington College of Law.
