The law firm of BOYNECLARKE LLP (Nova Scotia, Canada) and the social enterprise firm, Common Good Solutions, are pleased to present two youth enterprise competitions – the BOYNECLARKE Innovative Ideas Competition and the Common Good Solutions Enterprise 4 Change Competition.
The competitions, taking place simultaneously Thursday, March 20th, 2014, at The Westin in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, encourage entrepreneurship and creative thinking in post-secondary students from across Nova Scotia. Students from all disciplines are challenged to develop an innovative product, invention, service, business venture or community service that has the potential to make both an impact and good business sense. Each participating institution sends a student team to the provincial finals to pitch their idea with more than $20,000 in prize money to be awarded to encourage the young entrepreneurs to stay and grow their businesses in Nova Scotia.
On competition day, student pitches are presented and judged, with the awards reception to follow in the evening from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. During the reception, the students will also be pitching their ideas to ticket holders. Each premium ticket holder will receive $100 in ‘magic money’ to reward the youth ventures that impress them. At the end of the evening, the student teams exchange the ‘magic money’ they’ve raised for real cash. This celebratory reception is intended to connect the business and student entrepreneur communities to help build the networks and relationships needed to grow our province.
While BOYNECLARKE LLP and Common Good Solutions have donated the prize money, other event sponsors include the Nova Scotia Association of Community Business Development Centres, Nova Scotia Co-operative Council and a number of the participating academic institutions.
Best of luck to all the student competitors!
