The law firm of Eaton Peabody (Maine, USA) is pleased to welcome Judge John David Kennedy to the firm as Senior Counsel. Judge Kennedy will be resident in the firm's Brunswick office. Judge Kennedy's practice will concentrate on mediation, arbitration, and other ADR techniques.
A strong practice focus will be on family law matters and construction law. Judge Kennedy retired from the Maine Judicial Branch in 2014. He was appointed as an at-large Judge of the Maine District Court in 2002 where he presided over trials, other hearings, arraignments and conferences in all case types, in a number of counties. He was reappointed in 2009. Before his appointment as a judge from 1997 to 2002 he served as one of Maine's first District Court Case Management Officers where he presided over Case Management Conferences, interim hearings, conferences and child support final hearings on the District Court Family Matters docket. He began his service with the courts in 1994, acting as a Regional Court Administrator.

Judge Kennedy has authored and co-authored various books and articles on family law and statutory construction. He also has a passionate interest in collectible automobiles. He competes in local autocross events and is currently a member of the Cumberland Motor Club, BMW Car Club of America, and the Porsche Club of America.
Judge Kennedy received his law degree from Boston University School of Law (J.D., 1976), and his bachelor's degree from College of the Holy Cross (A.B., 1973)
