Carlile Patchen & Murphy (Columbus, Ohio, USA) is proud to announce that H. Ritchey Hollenbaugh, a partner, has been named the 2013 recipient of the Ohio State Bar Association’s highest honor, the Ohio Bar Medal Award.
Each year, this award is given to honorees who exemplify unusually meritorious service to the legal profession, to the community and to humanity. Hollenbaugh received the award at the May 9 OSBA annual convention in Cleveland.
“Ritchey Hollenbaugh had made significant contributions to the legal profession and his community while maintaining an extremely successful legal practice, which is no easy feat,” said Marie-Joëlle Khouzam, the firm’s managing partner. “He is well-known and well-respected in the Columbus community as a skilled lawyer and effective community leader.”
Hollenbaugh’s practice includes business litigation, white collar criminal litigation, election law and professional responsibility. He is the head of the Litigation Group at Carlile Patchen & Murphy. Having served as a past President of the Ohio State Bar Association and past President of the Columbus Bar Association, Hollenbaugh continues to serve as an active member of The Ohio State, Columbus, and American Bar Associations. He recently served on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association.
Hollenbaugh was named "Lawyer of the Year" for the Best Lawyers’ 2013 Ethics and Professional Responsibility Law category. He has served as a member of both the State and County Public Defender Commissions, participated in many law-related activities and was appointed a member of the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Delegation to the Ukraine, which assisted in the establishment of their court system in the post-Soviet era. He earned his law degree from Capital University and his undergraduate degree from Kent State University.
The law firm of Carlile Patchen & Murphy has for over 40 years concentrated on responsively serving the legal and business needs of mid-sized Central Ohio businesses and their owners and executives. Beyond the traditional advice on choice of the appropriate business entity and structure of ownership interests, the firm lends its extensive experience in counseling on financing, tax planning and operations; and ultimately to sale or transfer of the business to a strategic buyer, the employees or succeeding generations. Employment matters, and litigation if all else fails, are also areas where the firm’s attorneys frequently offer skilled advice and timely assistance.
