von Briesen & Roper, S.C. Welcomes Six Attorneys

Randall D. Crocker, President and CEO of von Briesen & Roper, s.c. (Wisconsin, USA), announced the addition of six attorneys: Julie A. Bernard, Patrick J. Bodden, William O. Jackson, Brian W. Sammons, Mark E. Schmidt and Louis E. Wahl, IV.

Julie A. Bernard focuses on intellectual property and general business and corporate matters. During law school she was the Managing Editor of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review.

Bernard is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. She serves on the Creative Council of FUEL Milwaukee, an economic development initiative of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, and is a member of the Core Committee of Skylight Music Theatre’s young professionals group, SkylightENSEMBLE.

Bernard earned a J.D., cum laude, (2012) from the University of Michigan and earned a B.M., summa cum laude, (2007) from Wayne State University. She resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Patrick J. Bodden advises individuals and business owners in all aspects of personal and business planning. Bodden assists entrepreneurs in the formation, operation and growth of their businesses. Bodden also represents health care providers on regulatory and transactional matters, Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Law.

Bodden earned a J.D. (2009) from Marquette University and a B.A., cum laude, (1999) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is a member of the Milwaukee and American (Member, Health Law Section) Bar Associations, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the American Health Lawyers Association. He resides in Shorewood, Wisconsin, with his family.

William (Bill) O. Jackson focuses on health law and business law. Prior to joining von Briesen, Jackson worked as an Administrative Fellow at a hospital system in western Wisconsin. His projects included administrative matters, including strategic planning, hospital program development, physician contracting, and compliance. Jackson has also worked in the corporate office of a large, multistate hospital system and in administration at a community hospital.

During law school, Jackson was a member of the Journal of Health Law & Policy and was selected as a member of the Advanced Appellate Practice Program.

Jackson earned a J.D. (2009), an M.H.A. (2009) and a B.A. (2005) from Saint Louis University. Jackson is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and Phi Beta Kappa. He and his wife reside in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

Brian W. Sammons focuses on litigation and is practicing with the banking, bankruptcy, commercial and business litigation groups and focuses his practice on insolvency matters and workouts. Prior to joining von Briesen, Sammons gained extensive litigation and white-collar investigation experience as a Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney. Between his undergraduate education and law school, Sammons was an intelligence officer in Washington D.C. followed by entering the Central Intelligence Agency’s Clandestine Service where he was a counterintelligence special operations programs officer. Sammons received several awards for his service in response to the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Sammons earned a J.D. (2008) from the University of Wisconsin and a B.S. (1999) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He and his wife reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mark E. Schmidt focuses his practice on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on corporate, labor and employment, and real estate and construction matters.

Prior to joining von Briesen, Schmidt practiced for several years at a large Milwaukee firm. During law school, Mark was the Notes & Comments editor for theFederal Circuit Bar Journal, served on the Moot Court Board, and was awarded “Best Brief – 2004” from the Federal Bar Association Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition.

Schmidt earned a J.D., magna cum laude, (2004) from George Mason University School of Law, an M.A. from the University of Virginia (1998) and a B.A.,magna cum laude, (1995) from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He resides in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, with his family.

Louis E. Wahl, IV focuses on banking, bankruptcy, insolvency matters and workouts. During law school, Wahl served as an extern to United States Magistrate Judge Franklin L. Noel in the District of Minnesota. He was the managing editor for the Minnesota Journal of International Law and was a student attorney in the Minnesota Business Law Clinic where he assisted businesses with organizational matters, transactional work, and securities regulatory matters.

Wahl earned a J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif (2012) and a B.S. (2009) from the University of Minnesota. Wahl is a member of the Milwaukee Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. He resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
