Piper Alderman (New South Wales, Australia) Health and Life Sciences partner, Dr Teresa Nicoletti, has been appointed as a senior member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) in New South Wales for a five year term. Dr Nicoletti has been a part-time member of the AAT since she was first appointed by the GovernorGeneral in August 2006.
The AAT is the key body providing independent review of administrative decisions made by the Australian government as well as some nongovernment bodies. Dr Nicoletti sits on both the General and Veterans Divisions of the AAT, and was appointed both for her legal expertise and extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Dr Nicoletti commented on her appointment:
"It is a tremendous honour to be promoted to this senior role in the AAT. I believe that my significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry combined with my legal and scientific expertise will assist the Tribunal to reach fair, pragmatic decisions in a range of complex matters that draw on that expertise."
Dr Nicoletti was also recently appointed to the editorial panel for the Australian Product Liability Reporter.
