With deep community roots and a fundamental belief in the power of good ideas, law firm BOYNECLARKE LLP (Nova Scotia, Canada) announced their title sponsorship of the 2013 Innovative Ideas Competition to be held February 12-13th, 2013 at Mount Saint Vincent University in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
Organized by the Nova Scotia Association of Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC), the BOYNECLARKE Innovative Ideas Competition encourages entrepreneurship and creative thinking in post secondary students from across Nova Scotia. Students from all disciplines are challenged to develop an innovative product, invention, service, business venture or community service that has the potential to make both an impact and business sense. Each participating institution sends a student representative to the provincial finals to pitch their idea with $10,000 in prize money and business mentoring to further develop the winning idea for market.
"It is no secret that innovation is the key to economic and social prosperity," says James MacNeil, managing partner at BOYNECLARKE. "It's also what's behind the forty year success of BOYNECLARKE. That's why we're proud to be involved with this competition, to help foster an innovative spirit in the next generation of business and community leaders in Nova Scotia."
More than just lending their name to the event, BOYNECLARKE is actively involved with partner Christene Hirschfeld sitting as one of three judges on the competition's panel. The firm also contributed to the development of this year's theme of "Every big idea starts as a little one." It's a notion MacNeil feels is critical to the innovation process. "Good ideas can be overwhelmed by unrealistic expectations and the need for immediate, overnight success. Every successful business, BOYNECLARKE included, started as an idea and a belief in the potential of that idea that then grew and evolved over time. We're hoping this competition will not only inspire ideas but also the opportunity that can grow from them."
CBDC is pleased to have BOYNECLARKE as title sponsor and event partner. "With BOYNECLARKE's history of community involvement and their work supporting businesses across Nova Scotia, we're honoured to have their expertise at the table and their enthusiasm for entrepreneurs in the making, " says CBDC CAO Erinn Smith.
