Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP Welcomes Two New Business Attorneys to the Firm

Carlile Patchen & Murphy (Columbus, Ohio) is pleased to welcome Richard S. Gerber, an experienced transactional lawyer, as a partner to the firm, and Bryan L. Jeffries, a skilled business and corporate lawyer, as Of Counsel to the firm.

Gerber focuses his practice on providing general counsel services to small closely held businesses and representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service and state and local tax authorities. He has significant experience providing legal advice on business formations and alliances, mergers and acquisitions, federal and state regulatory compliance, employer-employee relationships, business succession and estate planning. He is recognized as a top business lawyer by Columbus Business First. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a Dublin Rotary Foundation Board member, and a State of Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Board member. Gerber also serves as a Dublin City Councilman.

Gerber graduated from Capital University Law School, earned an L.L.M. in Taxation from Capital University Law School, and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit; the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio; the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio; and the U.S. Tax Court.

Jeffries is an experienced lawyer who represents a wide range of business clients. His practice is primarily focused in the areas of business and corporate law, construction law, health care law, commercial litigation and employment law. He acts as general counsel to a variety of family-owned businesses, as well as professionals such as physicians, chiropractors, dentists, accountants, distributors, contractors, real estate developers, insurance agencies, and many others.  Jeffries serves in the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce and Westerville Education Foundation. He is the founding member of the Westerville City Schools Alumni Association and chairs the Westerville City Schools Business Advisory Council’s Community Relations Committee.

Jeffries graduated cum laude from Capital University Law School and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Miami University. He is a member of the Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. He teaches business law and civil litigation at Capital University Law School’s Paralegal Program.
