Guerrero, Olivos, Novoa y Errázuriz (Chile) has promoted three associates to partner: Martín Santa María, José Ignacio Jiménez and Pedro Lyon.
The round of promotions, which will come into effect in January 2013, were announced by the firm yesterday.
Managing partner Roberto Guerrero explains that the new partners form part of the firms strategy to expand in critical areas for Chile such as mining, real estate and litigation.
Martín Santa María, 41, heads up the firms real estate practice, as well as contributing to the natural resources and environment team. Santa María focuses his practice on public works concessions, energy projects development and regulatory law. Previously, Martín has served as chief of staff to the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, where he also worked as legal counsel, as well as working at Sustentable, an environmental consulting firm.
Jiménez, 40, leads the firms litigation practice. His practice focuses on civil, commercial and administrative litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution. He has previously worked in the legal department of mobile communications enterprise Smartcom.
Lyon, 38, is in charge of Guerreros mining practice. In addition to specialising in mining and regulatory law, Lyon also works with investment funds and venture capitalists. He also specialises in China, and holds an LLM in Chinese law from the University of Singapore. He has served as a foreign associate at Chinese law firm Global Law Office, in its Beijing and Shanghai offices.
Guerrero hired two other partners earlier this year: Eduardo Cordero in administrative law and tax lawyer Carolina Fuensalida.
