Returning to Manchester for his studies, Chris completed the Graduate Diploma in Law in 2009 at BPP Law School, obtaining a commendation. He also completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in 2010, obtaining a distinction. Chris is now working within the Litigation department.
Mark Boothman also joined Voisin in September 2010 as a trainee Solicitor, having secured a training contract with the firm. He obtained an Upper Second Class BA Honours degree in History from Warwick University and completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and LPC at the College of Law, Guildford. James Angus joined Voisin in June 2012 having been part of the firm’s bursary scheme since 2007. He read Classics at Queens’ College, Cambridge, with his final year thesis being on the interpretation of the letters of the Roman lawyer and orator Cicero. After Cambridge, James studied for the Graduate Diploma in Law at City University and received commendations in the law of contract and property electives. James then attended at the Inns of Court School of Law and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple on 26 July 2012 having achieved distinctions in Civil Advocacy and his company and commercial law electives, gaining the highest mark in his year for the latter. James’ areas of legal interest are trusts and trust litigation with particular emphasis on the commercial use of trust structures as well as contentious company law actions: he assists in non-contentious and contentious matters but with a particular enthusiasm for trust, company and commercial litigation.
All four will commence their studies at the Institute of Law, with a view to qualifying as Advocates. Advocate Mike Preston has commented that: “For some years now we have been committed to supporting talented local students in their careers in the Law. The success of Katie, Chris, Mark and James is a testament to that commitment. We congratulate them on their achievements and look forward to celebrating further as their careers advance. We have other fine candidates on the verge of returning to the Island to take up training contracts and are always on the lookout for more. The success of Katie, Chris, Mark and James shows that Voisin are not just offering a bit of holiday work standing at the photocopier, but a genuine chance to make a start to a legal career”.
