Mr. Schwartz, a former Acting General Counsel of the United States Copyright Office, has advised clients on matters related to U.S. and foreign copyright law, including rights, ownership and enforcement issues, for over 20 years. He assists clients from the motion picture, music, publishing and software industries, as well as individual authors and creators, with traditional copyright and emerging electronic information and delivery issues, commercial transactions, domestic and international legal and policy matters, and trial and appellate litigation strategy. An authority on film and music archival and preservation (i.e., “back catalog”) issues and U.S. copyright law “termination” issues, Schwartz also serves as an adjunct professor of copyright law and international copyright law at Georgetown University Law Center.
“We congratulate Eric on this honor and thank him for his ongoing dedication to this important organization,” said Thomas Lambert, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp's Managing Partner. “In today’s increasingly globalized and technology-driven economy, CSUSA’s efforts to educate the public and policy-makers alike about copyright law and on-going changes in the law are essential.”
