Award Category: Pro Bono by Law School Student or Students
Project: BOYNECLARKE Summer Student Program
Description:
In May, 2001, BOYNECLARKE launched a Summer Student Program to assist non-profit organizations and to broaden the perspective of law students with respect to community issues and activities.
Every summer, law students accepted for articling at BOYNECLARKE have the option of participating in the Summer Student Program. This unique opportunity enables the student to work with a community-based non-profit organization, doing legal work and being exposed to the activities of that organization. Each student is assigned a lawyer who acts as their liaison with the non-profit. In addition, the student has access to lawyers and other resources at the firm to assist in their work.
Though students are assigned to one of the organizations for the summer, they remain employees of BOYNECLARKE and are paid by BOYNECLARKE. There are designated periods during the summer work term where the students return to work in the offices of BOYNECLARKE, and regular contact is maintained throughout the work term.
