Ijdelea & Associates successfully assisted BSOG Energy, a venture backed by The Carlyle Group and the EBRD, in connection with a major biomethane project envisaged to include the construction of a facility planned to produce 57 MW of biomethane and 250,000 tons of organic fertilizers / year. By valorising agricultural and organic waste, the project to be developed by our client in partnership with Unigrains not only contributes to decarbonizing the gas sector, but also supports circular economy principles and rural development, in line with the EU’s Fit for 55 package and the objectives of the REPowerEU Plan.
This is the second biomethane project for which Ijdelea & Associates provides the full spectrum of legal services, from regulatory and project development to general corporate and project finance matters.
Also, via the mandate entrusted by BSOG Energy, Ijdelea & Associates stands at the fore-front of advocating for and advancing the changes to the legislative framework required for biomethane production, injection into the transmission and distribution grid, issuance and trading of guarantees of origin and proof of sustainability and unrestricted biomethane trading.
Managing Partner, Oana Ijdelea (energy, project development, drafting of proposed legislation), Partner Siranus Hahamian (corporate and commercial, project finance) and Managing Associates Cosmin Pohaci (corporate and commercial, competition) and Ana Parvu (regulatory, permitting and drafting of proposed legislation) made-up the firms’ team involved in this project.
Ijdelea & Associates stands alongside clients, offering innovative legal solutions that enable them to be frontrunners in the clean energy transition and remains committed to shaping the legal architecture that will underpin Romania’s low carbon future and to supporting forward-looking investments that promote sustainability, energy independence and technological innovation.
