Adnan Sundra & Low Welcomes New Partner Yong Wee Hoo
We are pleased to welcome our new partner Yong Wee Hoo to the Banking & Finance team. Since 2011, Wee Hoo has played a pivotal role, including in leadership as a partner at another premier Malaysian law firm, in numerous debt capital market transactions, encompassing both conventional and Islamic finance.
His experience also extends to project financing through Islamic bonds highlighted by the largest offering relating to highway construction and Malaysia’s first Sukuk issuance based on the Shariah principles of Wakalah Bi Al-Isthithmar to fund the development and construction of an expressway.
More recently, Wee Hoo’s notable deals include acting as transaction counsel on an Islamic medium term note programme of up to RM200 Million in nominal value for a district cooling system project which received honourable mention under the category of Project and Infrastructure Finance for the Islamic Finance News Awards 2020, Malaysian counsel for the joint lead managers in the issuance of USD500 Million exchangeable bonds (the obligor of which was Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund) and as transaction counsel for the issuance of a perpetual Sukuk programme of RM2 Billion in nominal value based on the Shariah principle of Musharakah which won several awards including the IFN Corporate Finance Deal of the Year.
Wee Hoo was also principal consultant at a global alternative legal and compliance services provider, before returning to practice at our firm.
