Randall D. Crocker, President and CEO of von Briesen & Roper, s.c. (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), announced the addition of two attorneys: Shareholder Charles W. Cousland and
Principal Associate Peter C. Furrer.
Attorney Charles W. Cousland is a Shareholder in the Business Practice Group where he advises corporate, institutional and financial clients in all areas of business and corporate law including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial lending, capital formation, shareholder/partner disputes and corporate governance. Cousland has significant experience in real estate transactions and leasing, real estate development and construction and land use disputes. Prior to joining von Briesen, Cousland practiced in the Waukesha office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C.
Cousland is a member of the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Waukesha County Bar Association. He is also a co-author of A Guide for Wisconsin Nonprofit Organizations, Second Edition, published by the State Bar of Wisconsin. Cousland is the current Chairman of the Board for Notre Dame Middle School and a member of the Executive Board for the Potawatomi Area Council Boy Scouts of America. He also served as the President, Vice President and a Board Member for the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts.
Cousland earned a J.D. in 1993 from Marquette University and a B.A. in 1990 from the University of Michigan. He resides in Brookfield, Wisconsin with his wife and children.
Attorney Peter C. Furrer is a member of the Litigation and Risk Management Practice Group where he focuses on commercial disputes and general litigation matters. Prior to joining von Briesen, Furrer practiced for six years in the commercial litigation department of Foley & Lardner LLP. Furrer represents clients in state, federal and appellate courts, arbitrations, and mediations and has experience litigating trials in federal court and has presented oral arguments before the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Furrer is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School (J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, 2002) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S., economics, political science, and international relations, 1999). Upon graduation from law school, Furrer served a one-year clerkship for the honorable Thomas J. Kalitowski in the Minnesota Court of appeals.
