Casner & Edwards announces that Firm Executive Director Paul N. Masuret was selected for the 2024 Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Excellence in the Law award in the category of “Firm Administration/Operations.” The award honors attorneys and other legal professionals who have distinguished themselves in the Greater Boston legal community. Masuret will be honored for his contributions at the annual Excellence in the Law event on March 19.
Masuret has served as Casner’s Executive Director for 33 years, and has been an integral part of the firm’s continued growth and success. In his role, Masuret manages the business functions of the firm including finance, human resources, operations, information technology, facilities, marketing, records management and staff support. He is a non-voting member of the firm’s Management Committee and is essential to the strategic planning, practice management and business development of the firm.
Over the years, Masuret has been key to a number of the firm’s milestone events, including an office relocation in 1991 and expansions in 2001 and 2006, a 40th anniversary celebration in 2014, and the development of a new website in 2023. Working closely with past and present managing partners, he has helped to ensure the firm’s financial health and stability through various economic situations, including the recession of 2007 – 2009, and most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. During the height of the pandemic, Masuret led the development of policies and procedures to keep attorneys and staff both safe and productive. Today, the firm has successfully achieved a flexible hybrid schedule that allows all members of the firm to foster their work-life balance.

Masuret is an active member of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), an international organization of professional managers of private law firms, non-profits and government organizations. In 2006-2007, he served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Boston Chapter and has chaired or served on many of the committees for the Chapter.
