Casner & Edwards announces that the firm was selected for Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s first-ever Empowering Women Awards. The award recognizes Massachusetts law firms that have shown a strong commitment to supporting and elevating women attorneys. Casner & Edwards is featured in the publication’s July 31 issue.
Katie L. S. Von Kohorn, Co-chair of Casner’s Women’s Initiative, said, “Casner & Edwards has long held gender equity and advancement as a core value of the firm, and we make a concerted effort to support women attorneys. We are honored to be recognized for our work as a firm that prioritizes empowering women.”
Casner was recognized for its commitment to gender equity, and its widespread efforts, from hiring and promotion internally to public recognition and business development efforts. The firm actively seeks to increase its pipeline of women candidates when recruiting for open positions and when considering promotions within the firm to ensure that women are meaningfully involved in recruiting, hiring and promotion decisions. Additionally, Casner supports women attorneys in business and professional development, as well as involvement in civic and advocacy activities outside the firm.
Illustrating Casner’s commitment to supporting women, the firm has substantially exceeded the national average of women equity partners, women non-equity partners and women attorneys overall consistently for the last decade. The firm also ensures that women hold leadership positions, including one woman currently on the firm’s four-person management committee. Casner also invests significant effort in increasing the visibility of its incredibly talented women attorneys, both regionally and nationally. Lastly, the firm supports women business owners, women-led not-for-profit organizations and women-led community initiatives.
