In his over 35 years of practice, he has represented a broad spectrum of clients in insolvency matters, including debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, landlords, secured and unsecured creditors and investors. His clients cut across a wide range of industry types, including real estate developers, high-tech, senior living and healthcare companies, medical practice groups and nonprofit institutions. Goldberg has also served as counsel to purchasers and sellers of industrial, office and multifamily real estate, with a particular expertise in real estate financing. He is also a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy topics, particularly on the impact of bankruptcy issues on real estate transactions.
Riley represents debtors, creditors, creditors' committees, trustees and plan administrators in all types of business and consumer bankruptcy proceedings. With over 30 years of experience, Riley provides intelligent and cost-effective representation to local and regional clients with their Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 and bankruptcy litigation. She has served on the panel of chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the District of Massachusetts since 1995. She serves as operating trustee and examiner in chapter 11 cases, and as creditor trustee under chapter 11 liquidation and reorganization plans. Riley has argued numerous appeals before the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the First Circuit, and has authored amicus briefs for the United States Supreme Court, the First Circuit and the Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals on significant bankruptcy issues.
