Piper Alderman is delighted to announce eleven lawyer promotions across the firm with effect from 1 January 2022, including new partner, Emily Haar in Adelaide, a long-standing member of the national Employment Relations team.
Emily joined Piper Alderman in July 2012 as a Law Clerk in the Employment Relations team and has progressed through the firm over the last decade, working with partners David Ey and Erin McCarthy in the Adelaide office. Emily provides advice to employers across Australia in various industries in relation to all aspects of employment, including hiring, workforce management and disputes, industrial relations, and work health and safety matters.

Emily is a co-author of “Independent Contractors: a practical guide” with Professor Andrew Stewart and other contributors from Piper Alderman, published by CCH. Emily has been an editor of the University of Adelaide Law Review.
Emily is also the creator and host of Piper Alderman’s podcast, ‘Employment Law for the Time Poor’ and was recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a Rising Star for Employment & WHS – Australia in 2018, 2020 and 2021.
The national Employment Relations team has experienced significant growth in 2021. Partner, Joe Murphy joined the Sydney office in April and Partner, Shane Entriken and his team opened the Piper Alderman office in Perth on 1 July. The Adelaide office has also recently bolstered its depth of expertise with the appointment of Emily Slaytor as Special Counsel in November, and Senior Associate, Zoe McQuillan joined the Sydney office in October. From 1 January 2022, the team will boast 8 partners and 16 lawyers across four offices.
Over the last 12 months, Piper Alderman has made nine partner appointments including lateral hires Lis Boyce, Joel Shaw, Joe Murphy, Richard Abbott, Karyn Reardon, Shane Entriken and Paul Sartori, and mid-year promotions Carlyna Chhen and Jonathan Dodd.
