Lina Uribe García, a partner at Gómez-Pinzón Abogados for ten years, recently assumed the direction of the firm's Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions practice, thus becoming the first woman to lead this area in the Colombian legal sector.
Her career of more than twenty years as a lawyer has focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures and corporate affairs in different economic sectors. He has advised corporate, national and transnational reorganizations, as well as mergers, splits and transformations, among which the merger between Avianca and Grupo Taca stands out; the acquisition of Carulla Vivero by Almacenes Éxito; the spin-off of Cine Colombia; the spin-off of Caracol Televisión; the purchase of Chrysler Colombia by the Bergé Group; the reorganization of the investment in Terranum Corporate Properties (TCP); the reorganization of Bavaria; and the recent acquisition of Euroceramica SA in Reorganization by Porcelanite Lamosa, among many others.
He has also advised local and international buyers and sellers, including private equity funds during the processes of acquisition and sale of companies, from the legal due diligence processes, the structuring, documentation and negotiation of the transaction documents, the application from approvals to government entities, to advice on the closing and post-closing of the transaction.
Lina is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Executive Committee of Affinitas, an alliance based in Latin America made up of Gómez-Pinzón (Colombia), Barros & Errázuriz (Chile), Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes (Mexico) and Miranda & Amado (Peru), top-level law firms and leaders in each of the jurisdictions where they operate.

With this appointment, Lina assumes the management of a group of 33 lawyers, who make up a solid and leading practice in the legal market, as evidenced by her participation, in 2020, in several of the most relevant transactions in the country, including Of note are the acquisition by the Carlyle Group of Oxy's oil assets in Colombia; the sale by Nuevomundo of 100% of its fiduciary rights over real estate and lease contracts of the Calima Shopping Center to Mallplaza; and advising Ashmore Andean Fund LLC and Fondo Ashmore Andino II - FCP Fondo in the granting of a convertible loan to Redcol Holding SAS, and in the consolidation of a holding company (Redcol Holding) with investments in more than ten educational institutions, among many others.
