Boston law firm Casner & Edwards LLP announces that two of its attorneys, Michael J. Goldberg and Lynne F. Riley were selected for inclusion in Lawdragon’s 2020, “500 U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers,” guide. This inaugural list recognizes attorneys for their remarkable skills in financing, structuring, litigating and creating a pathway forward for struggling companies. The 500 honorees were selected by Lawdragon’s editorial team through a process that encompasses peer and client submissions, journalistic research and editorial vetting. 

Goldberg specializes in the areas of business bankruptcy, financial restructuring and business transactions as well as commercial real estate transactions. In his over 25 years of practice, Goldberg has represented a broad spectrum of clients in insolvency matters, including debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, assignees, landlords, secured and unsecured creditors, and investors. His clients cut across a wide range of industry types, including high-tech and biomedical device companies, medical practice groups, and nonprofit institutions. He has also served as counsel to purchasers and sellers of industrial, office and multifamily real estate, with a particular expertise in real estate financing. He is also a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy topics, particularly on the impact of bankruptcy issues on real estate transactions.

Riley represents debtors, creditors, creditors' committees, trustees, and plan administrators in all types of business and consumer bankruptcy proceedings. She has served on the panel of chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the District of Massachusetts since 1995. She also serves as operating trustee and examiner in chapter 11 cases, and as creditor trustee under chapter 11 liquidation and reorganization plans. Additionally, Riley has argued numerous appeals before the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the First Circuit and has authored amicus briefs for the United States Supreme Court, the First Circuit and the Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals on significant bankruptcy issues.
