The Private Fund Investment Advisers Registration Act of 2009

The Treasury Department has proposed legislation that would require all advisers to hedge funds and other private pools of capital, including private equity funds and venture capital funds, to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission and be subject to certain reporting and recordkeeping requirements. The proposal is part of the Obama administration’s effort to overhaul the regulation of capital markets and would amend the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Click here to read the entire alert.
