Hershiser, Margaret C.
Margaret Hershiser is the chair of Koley Jessen’s Employment, Labor and Benefits practice group and a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. She has over twenty two years of experience advising and representing clients in employment, labor, and benefits law matters, including related litigation, arbitration, and mediation. She also is an expert in education law.
In her employment law practice, Margaret counsels clients throughout the United States on employment contract negotiation and drafting, policies and procedures, wage and hour matters, discrimination matters, workers’ compensation matters, independent contractor matters, noncompetition agreements, severance agreements, and executive compensation and benefits issues. She also represents her clients in employee benefits litigation and arbitration matters and employment-related litigation matters filed in State and Federal courts and before administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor. Margaret works closely with EPLI providers and their insueds and successfully defends against heavy financial losses due to employment claims. A frequent author and lecturer, Margaret provides training for management and employees on sexual harassment, workplace diversity, and other legal topics that impact the workplace.
As an education law expert, Margaret is routinely involved in student discipline proceedings and teacher disciplinary actions and terminations. She advises her education clients on contract matters, compliance with open meeting laws, Title IX compliance, and other relevant state and federal laws impacting public education.
Margaret is AV Preeminent rated in Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and listed in Best Lawyers in America for Employment Law by Woodward/White Inc. She is a graduate of the Creighton University School of Law, where she served as a member of the Creighton Law Review.
