In addition to trademark prosecution, enforcement and litigation support, Paul handles copyright, right of publicity and domain name matters that touch on trademark law.
Paul has more than 20 years of experience in trademarks. While working at the United States Patent and Trademark Office early in his career, Paul examined more than 4,400 trademark applications and has prosecuted countless applications to registration as a private attorney since. Paul has been consistently selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers since 2006 and was named Best Lawyers’ Nashville Trademark Law Lawyer of the Year in 2012.
Prior to joining the firm, the longtime Tennessean practiced in Washington, D.C., first with the USPTO and then with what is now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.
Paul is an active member of the Intellectual Property Section of the Tennessee Bar Association, having acted as Chair on more than one occasion. Paul is a supporter of trademark education at Vanderbilt Law School and Belmont Law School, having made a number of trademark related presentations at both schools.
