Britta Warren is the firm’s Managing Partner, overseeing all aspects of operations and long-term strategic planning. Her practice includes bankruptcy, receivership, and general commercial litigation. Britta has represented creditors, vendors, banks, trustees, and individuals in bankruptcy and state and federal court litigation. Her bankruptcy experience includes contested chapter 11 proceedings, automatic stay, violations, valuation and claims litigation, lien avoidance proceedings, and prosecuting and defending adversary proceedings involving nondischargeability claims and preference recovery. Britta also specializes in estate and trust litigation. Britta joined Black Helterline in 2012 after practicing at a boutique creditor’s rights firm and was named Managing Partner in 2021.
PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS Britta has served as Chair and member of the Executive Committee for the Oregon State Bar Debtor-Creditor Section and a member of the Editorial Board for Debtor-Creditor Section Newsletter, for which she has authored and co-authored several publications. Britta currently chairs the CLE Committee for the Debtor-Creditor section which develops the section’s annual CLE presentation. Britta is a member of the Multnomah Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Britta was nominated as a Rising Star in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 by Super Lawyers Magazine.
Britta was raised in a small town in Kansas. She moved to Portland in 1998 to attend Reed College and eventually graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a degree in the Classics. She returned to her home state to become the eighth person in her family to graduate from the University of Kansas School of Law.
