After graduating with a law degree and a doctorate from Lausanne University François Carrard works for two years with a Stockholm law firm before being admitted to the bar in 1967, when he joins Carrard & Associés.
Specializing in sports law, François Carrard is the Director General of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 1989 until 2003. He is regularly consulted in international arbitration cases, namely before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the Chamber of Commerce of Geneva.
François Carrard serves as director and/or chairman of several Swiss and foreign companies. He is also a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA) and Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA).
