Todd Brody’s specialty is serving as outside general counsel to a wide range of privately held companies, usually at the advanced growth stage. He approaches each project with a holistic view and a keen mind, working closely with companies to identify, strategize, and find highly creative solutions to everything from intellectual property issues to mergers and acquisitions.
He has particular expertise and passion for acting as general counsel for advertising, marketing, and design agencies, which benefit from his uniquely creative approach to the issues they face.

Professional Activities
Todd clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Ronald T.Y. Moon of the Hawaii Supreme Court (1996-1997) and externed with the Honorable David Alan Ezra of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii (1995). Todd also spent time in Japan teaching for the Japan Exchange Teaching (JET) Program and for the Japan YMCA, as well as interning with the legal department of the consumer products manufacturer Kao Corporation in Tokyo. Todd is conversant in Japanese.
Education
Todd received his undergraduate degree in political science and international relations from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1991. After working in Japan, he earned his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1996 where he served as editor-in-chief of the Hasting International and the Comparative Law Review and was president of the Momiji Japanese Law Society.
