He advises on all types of transactions relating to commercial, rural, agricultural and equine property including sales and purchases, and commercial and agricultural tenancies. He also handles planning and environmental aspects, and has particular expertise in dealing with contaminated land. Oliver advises on all countryside issues including rights of way and diversification. He also deals with development projects, including acquisitions and disposals; options and overage agreements. Oliver is the leader of the firm's Hotel sub-sector group. Oliver's experience enables him to assist his clients in preparing fully for a transaction by spotting potential risks and pitfalls, for example TUPE and VAT problems, and coming up with solutions to resolve such issues at an early stage. He has recently successfully assisted a client purchase leasehold licensed premises from administrators which was particularly problematic in relation to the transfer of employees and the lack of warranties and indemnities from the administrators. Their view was take it or leave it which did not provide the client with the security and comfort he was looking for. Oliver now acts for Whitbread dealing with acquisitions of development land for their Premier Inn, Beefeater and Brewers Fayre Brands ensuring that their interests are protected whilst meeting tight timescales to ensure the deliverability of their business plans.
